GALWAY & THE ARAN ISLANDS
Depart Fishguard on the afternoon sailing to Rosslare, with an overnight stop at Dooleys Hotel in Waterford. The following morning we travel via Tipperary and Limerick to Bunratty where we visit Bunratty Castle and Folk Village, the most complete and authentic medieval castle in Ireland. We continue our journey to Galway and the 4* Menlo Park Hotel, our base for the next four nights.
Galway excursions: Tuesday - A full day to the Burren National Park, a stark haunting landscape with distinctive limestone outcrops. A visit to the world renowned Cliffs of Moher and visitor centre is included. Wednesday - A unique full day to the mystical Aran Islands, after a 45 minute ferry crossing to Inis Mor the largest of the islands with only 880 inhabitants we take an island tour by minibus to see the ruins of early Christian monasteries and fortifications, including entrance to Dun Aengus, the finest example of a stone fort in Europe. Theres time to visit the Aran Sweater Market & Museum, featuring the islands most famous export. Thursday A full day around the Connemara National Park, on the western seaboard, where some of Irelands most beautiful scenery can be viewed. A visit to Kylemore Abbey once a castle now home to Benedictine nuns is included, tour the exquisite chapel and reception rooms and stroll through the renovated Victorian gardens.
You have a free morning to explore Galway on Friday before we make our way to Dublin for our overnight stop at the Regency Hotel. There will be time this evening or Saturday morning for you to explore a little of Dublin before our lunchtime ferry crossing from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead.

Our base for this holiday is in the Suffolk town of Ipswich, ideally placed for exploring the scenery and rich heritage of Constable Country, the artists native landscape that became inspiration for his paintings, and the Suffolk coast which is also an area recognised for its landscape of unique beauty.

Excursions to include Constable Country, where we first visit Flatford Mill the scene of Constables most famous painting for a guided morning walk. We then go to East Bergholt, an unspoilt village and the birthplace of the famous painter and finally to the lovely village of Dedham where he went to school. Another day we go to the charming seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold. We visit Lavenham one of Britains best preserved medieval villages on another morning followed by a visit to Kentwell Hall & Gardens, not a stately home but very much a lived-in family home, something it has been for over 500years. On our return journey home we pay a visit to the National Stud at Newmarket, the showcase for British thoroughbred horse breeding, for a behind the scenes look at one of the most prestigious stud farms in the country.
